Chevrolet's next-generation 2027 Silverado 1500 brings a new exterior and interior, two new V8s and a seven-trim lineup, and Chevrolet expects it to go on sale at the end of 2026. Here's how the trims, engines and towing ratings compare, and how to ask George Kell Chevrolet about availability.

What's new for the 2027 Silverado 1500
- An all-new exterior and interior for the next-generation truck.
- Two new sixth-generation Small Block V8s, a 5.7L and a 6.6L, while the 2.7L TurboMax now pairs with a 10-speed automatic.
- A 16.3-in. center display and 12.2-in. driver information center on every trim.
- Seven trims, including three lifted models: ZR2, Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss. The LT is renamed "Silverado."
- 4WD trucks in the Silverado trim get the Z71 package as standard, with skid plates, hill descent control and off-road suspension.
- The Custom gains dual exhaust and 20-in. Technical Gray wheels.
- High Country gets standard 22-in. wheels and, according to Chevrolet, the first panoramic sunroof on a Silverado.
- An interior camera with Cabin Glance is standard on High Country and ZR2 and available on every trim.
2027 Silverado 1500 trims
Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, Silverado, Trail Boss, High Country and ZR2, with a ZR2 Bison Edition (with AEV) available. Chevrolet.com labels the former LT as "Silverado (LT/Z71)." Chevrolet's spec tables list Regular Cab, Double Cab and Crew Cab, in 2WD and 4WD.
Work Truck and Custom
The working end of the lineup. The Custom now includes dual exhaust and 20-in. Technical Gray wheels.
Silverado (formerly LT)
The renamed middle trim, with the Z71 off-road package standard on 4WD trucks and Super Cruise available.
Trail Boss and Custom Trail Boss
Trail Boss: 34-in. mud-terrain tires, a 2-in. factory lift and an off-road hood. Custom Trail Boss: a 2-in. lift and 34-in. tires at the Custom level.
ZR2 and ZR2 Bison
35-in. mud-terrain tires, a 2-in. lift, front and rear electronic lockers, Multimatic DSSV dampers, front and rear underbody cameras with washers and a new Baja drive mode.
High Country
Standard 22-in. wheels, the panoramic sunroof, the Cabin Glance camera and Super Cruise.
Engines, towing and payload
2.7L TurboMax
350 hp and 455 lb-ft. Up to 9,400 lb of towing (Regular Cab long bed 2WD) and 2,340 lb of payload (Regular Cab standard bed 2WD).
Duramax 3.0L turbo-diesel
305 hp and 495 lb-ft. Up to 12,000 lb of towing (Crew Cab short bed 4WD with the Max Trailering Package) and 1,870 lb of payload (Crew Cab short bed 2WD). With the available tank of about 34 gallons, Chevrolet estimates more than 900 highway miles of range, based on a GM-estimated 27 mpg highway (2WD).
5.7L V8 (L76)
402 hp and 428 lb-ft. Up to 13,700 lb of towing (Double Cab standard bed 2WD with the Max Trailering Package) and 2,170 lb of payload (Regular Cab long bed 2WD).
6.6L V8 (L78)
481 hp and 501 lb-ft. Up to 9,700 lb of towing (Crew Cab short or standard bed 4WD) and 1,510 lb of payload (Crew Cab short bed ZR2 4WD).
All four engines use a 10-speed automatic. GM publishes these maximum towing and payload figures for comparison only; the door-jamb label and the Owner's Manual govern for a specific truck. Chevrolet.com says every 2027 Silverado can tow at least 7,200 lb.
Super Cruise, cameras and trailering
Super Cruise with trailering allows hands-free driving while towing up to 13,600 lb. It's standard on High Country and ZR2 and available on the Silverado and Trail Boss trims, and its lane-change functions are turned off while trailering. The truck can carry up to 11 cameras, with 19 camera views on the ZR2 and Trail Boss.
