2026 Mustang trims we help you compare

EcoBoost and EcoBoost Premium

Ford lists the 2026 Mustang EcoBoost with a 2.3L EcoBoost engine rated at 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque. Fastback and convertible are both in the lineup. If you searched for a new Mustang and do not need the V8, start here and we will check whether Newport has an EcoBoost or EcoBoost Premium in the color you want.

GT and GT Premium

The 2026 Mustang GT uses Ford's 5.0L Ti-VCT V8, published at 480 horsepower and 415 lb-ft. With the available active-valve performance exhaust, Ford lists 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft. Ford lists a 6-speed manual with rev matching as standard on GT and a 10-speed automatic as available. Fastback and convertible both exist. This is the car people mean by "2026 Mustang 5.0" and "Mustang GT specs."

Dark Horse

Dark Horse and Dark Horse Premium use a modified naturally aspirated 5.0L Coyote V8. Ford publishes 500 horsepower and 418 lb-ft and calls it the most powerful naturally aspirated 5.0L in Mustang history. Ford lists a 10-speed automatic as standard and a TREMEC 6-speed manual with rev matching as available. Dark Horse is a fastback. These cars are allocated. Call before you drive in from Jonesboro, Searcy or Batesville.

Fastback or convertible

Ford lists fastback and convertible body styles on EcoBoost and GT. Dark Horse stays a coupe. A photo of a fastback does not tell you the transmission, axle or exhaust. Ask for the window sticker on the stock number, not just the trim name.

Manual transmission and the 5.0

People still search "Ford Mustang manual transmission" and "2026 Mustang 5.0." Ford's 2026 GT page lists the 6-speed manual with rev matching as standard, with the 10-speed SelectShift automatic available. Dark Horse flips that: the 10-speed automatic is listed as standard, and the TREMEC 6-speed manual is available. Do not assume a 5.0 on the lot is a stick. Say manual or automatic when you call 870-523-5559.

GT also lists a 3.55 limited-slip rear axle with the manual and a 3.15 limited-slip with the automatic, plus available 3.55 and 3.73 Torsen axles. That equipment changes how the car drives. We will read it off the sticker rather than guess from the badge.

What Ford lists as new for 2026 colors and packages

Ford's 2026 GT page lists new exterior colors including Avalanche Gray, Adriatic Blue Metallic and Orange Fury Metallic Tri-coat, alongside Shadow Black, Carbonized Gray, Vapor Blue, Molten Magenta, Race Red and Oxford White. Dark Horse can add exclusive Blue Ember with the appearance package. Packages people ask about include GT Performance Package, Nite Pony, the FX Package on GT Premium, and the RTR package, which Ford says is exclusive to the EcoBoost fastback. None of those are automatic on a Newport car. Confirm the VIN.

Shopping a leftover 2025 Mustang

Some 2025 Mustangs may still be new leftovers or late-model used cars while 2026 stock arrives. If you want last-year pricing or a specific 2025 GT manual, say so. We will not list a 2025 as a 2026, and we will not promise a car is still here without a stock check.

Used Mustangs also sit on the Ford lot. Our used-vehicle shopping guide covers which rooftop to call. If you are comparing a car to a truck, the 2026 F-150 page is the pickup equivalent of this one.
